Vice President, New Construction Division
Matt Jensen

As Vice President of the New Construction Division at American Wholesale Lighting, Matt Jensen leads national lighting rollouts with precision, structure, and a client-first mindset. From fast-paced retail programs to multi-site initiatives, he oversees projects that run smoothly, align with client goals, and build lasting trust.
Matt’s journey with AWL began in the warehouse at age 15 and evolved through roles in project management and operations. He holds a degree in psychology from UC Davis, which gives him unique insight into how lighting influences human behavior and decision-making. That understanding shapes the way he helps clients create spaces that are not only efficient and functional, but also comfortable, inviting, and aligned with their brand experience.
Matt’s work ethic and leadership style were shaped early on by his father, who founded AWL in the 1980s. From his first days in the warehouse, Matt learned the value of persistence, direct communication, and doing whatever it takes to support the client. That mindset continues to guide his work today—now as a leader helping national brands navigate complex projects with confidence.
Known for refining processes and removing obstacles, Matt is committed to making lighting easier and more effective for AWL’s clients. “We take the stress of lighting off our clients’ backs,” he says. “We’re not just taking orders—we’re advocates.”
