  • Modernizing lighting in active, 24/7 grocery environments required upgrading across sales floors, refrigerated cases, back-of-house areas, exteriors, and gas stations while stores remained open. Crews had to work within strict food-safety and cleanliness protocols, coordinate around concurrent remodel activity, and deliver a consistent visual outcome across varied store footprints.

Albertsons needed a partner who could deliver:

    • Overnight installations without disrupting store operations

    • Full clean and clear before the morning rush

    • Coordination with other trades during remodel windows

    • Protection of open product and cases under strict sanitation standards

    • Standardized designs that improve brightness, consistency, and maintenance load

With live operations and rolling remodel timelines, execution had to be precise and tightly coordinated.

  • AWL deployed lighting auditors and designers to assess each location using 360° photography and detailed plan markups. Rather than one-for-one replacements, each store received a full lighting layout aligned to Albertsons’ updated standards. The scope covered sales floor and case lighting, back-of-house spaces, exterior areas, and gas stations.

AWL managed the program end to end: layout and specification, product delivery, overnight install planning, on-site protection and safety, end-of-shift cleaning, and utility rebate coordination where eligible. Scheduling and communication ran through Albertsons’ energy, construction, and store design teams to keep every store on track.

  • More than 600 stores were upgraded nationwide. Locations saw higher, more uniform light levels, a fresher in-store presentation, and reduced maintenance demands. Because the work occurred overnight with strict cleanliness protocols, stores opened ready for business each morning. The standardized design approach gives Albertsons a repeatable model for future remodels and refreshes, improving efficiency while supporting a consistent customer experience across markets.

  • AWL delivered consistent lighting upgrades across a nationwide Albertsons portfolio.

    • 600+ locations upgraded nationwide

    • 7+ years of rolling execution

    • Overnight installs to keep stores open

    • Scope: sales floors, refrigerated cases, back-of-house, exteriors, gas stations

    • Results: brighter stores, lower energy use, fewer maintenance calls
